Sillijoi - Joyful Learning Ideas
Sillijoi is Oki’s silliest friend! This app was designed in collaboration with families who participated in the early Oki Pie workshops, as a way to try small activities for shared engagement beyond our time in the workshops. Families reported these activities were particularly helpful during the weekends, holidays, and summer breaks when they had additional time to connect with each other.
Learning Goals
The app has four learning goal categories, each designed to build a different dimension of family wellbeing:
Connect encourages families to strengthen relationships through conversation, shared memories, and presence with one another. Activities here focus on listening, expressing gratitude, and spending intentional time together.
Collaborate is about creating and building things as a team. Activities involve making, cooking, designing, and problem-solving together, building creativity and a sense of shared accomplishment.
Discover nurtures curiosity and a love of learning about the natural and wider world. Activities involve observation, exploration, and asking questions about science, nature, and different cultures.
Reflect supports emotional awareness and inner growth. Activities help family members slow down, notice their feelings, and develop habits like journaling, breathing, and gratitude.
How to interact
Click any activity card to flip it over and reveal the full activity prompt on the back. Each section has 25 cards to explore. After trying activities in a category, use the smiley face scale below that section to rate how joyful the experience felt. The Joy Meter at the top of the page fills up as you rate all four categories, giving the whole family a visual sense of how much joyful learning they have done together. The goal is to try at least one activity from each category every week!
