Artist Statement
Dr. Sonia Tiwari’s art invites a smile, a pause, and a reflection through character design.
Whimsical character art is paired with short stories and reflection prompts, that offer opportunities to emotionally connect with characters’ abstract design and backstories. These connections are often kaleidoscopic - people see the fictional characters through the lens of their lived experiences.
She brings interdisciplinary insights to her art as a Character Designer (BS Film, MFA Animation) and Children’s Media Researcher (PhD Learning, Design, and Technology) - blending the design, psychology, and educational impact of fictional characters on children and their families.
